UL 508A MANUAL MANUAL
Not more than 3 m (10 ft.), and the manual motor controller is marked Group, the length from the point of the tap to the controller(s) is The ampacity is not less than 1/10 of the SCPD for the motor The ampacity is not less than 1/3 of the branch circuit conductors,Īnd the length from the point of the tap to the motor overload protection The ampacity is not less than that of the branch circuit conductors. Of the SCPD for the motor group must comply with one of the following: The tap conductor sizing rules for group motor installations are Load current rating of all other motors and loads.Īppropriate overcurrent protection is provided for non-motor
UL 508A MANUAL FULL
If the SCPD is a non-time delay fuse, it is sized toĪ maximum of 300% of the largest motor FLA plus the sum of the full Sum of the full load current rating of all other motors and loads. It is sized to a maximum of 175% of the largest motor FLA plus the Motor FLA plus the sum of the full load current rating of all other Loads, where all the following conditions are met:Įach motor controller and overload protection device carriesĮach circuit breaker (if used) is listed and is of the inverseĪ circuit breaker, it is sized to a maximum of 250% of the largest Two or more motors of any rating, or one or more motors and other Other group installations-NEC Section 430.53 (C): If the SCPD is a non-time delay fuse, it is sized to a maximum If the SCPD is a time-delay fuse, it is sized to a maximum
If the SCPD is a circuit breaker, it is sized to a maximum The SCPD is sized for the motor in the group with the lowest rating. Smallest rated motor protected-NEC Section 430.53 (B): The branch-circuit short-circuit device rating marked on anyĪppropriate motor overload protection is used. No single motor is rated greater than 6 A Full Load Amperes Of 1000 V maximum, a single SCPD not exceeding 15 A is permitted
Group motor installations are used in the following applications:įractional HP motors-NEC Section 430.53 (A):įor several motors, each rated 1 HP maximum on a branch circuit In a group motor installation, a single circuit breaker or fuse Transformer fuse or supplementary protection Our TIA Selection Tool tool can be used to select the UL test combinations with a small amount of input. This "High Capacity Short-Circuit Rating" can be found in the "UL Certificate of Compliance".Solenoid or other control device-provided You will find also type 1 and type 2 test combinations on the certifications (CoC=Certificate of compliance). The Siemens portfolio has been tested in accordance with the performance requirements, including short circuit requirements, and this includes the high fault current combination test. The issue with these low values is that often industrial control panels will need to have an overall SCCR higher than any of these values. When you use the “Standard SCCR” values of individual components, especially motor controllers and overload protection devices, you may end up with an industrial control panel that can only hold up to 5kA, 10kA, or even 15kA.
UL 508A MANUAL HOW TO
Instead of thinking about how to limit the current or which device can be used, or even thinking about paying more for a device with higher “Standard SCCR”, we recommend to use tested combinations. Use high SCCR values of tested combinations!
